The owner and founder of Tesla, Elon Musk, has been behind the luxury goods tycoon since February 2024, according to Forbes’ real-time list of billionaires.
Musk lost his second-place ranking in April 2024 to Jeff Bezos, the creator of Amazon, although Musk has since recovered after his stock increased by 15% on April 29, 2024, boosting his net worth by $14.5 billion, according to Forbes.
Elon Musk has closed the money gap with Bernard Arnault, who is currently valued at $209.4 billion, or roughly $10 billion more than Musk, after visiting China to learn about the development of electric vehicles in Asia.
But during the previous month, Arnault’s LVMH company’s shares dropped, lowering its fortune by $17 billion.
Additionally, with a net worth of $193.3 billion, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos dropped to third place, while Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta posted a $151.2 billion net worth for the same time period.
With a net worth of $128 billion, Microsoft founder Bill Gates—who held the title of richest person in the world for over three decades—has fallen from seventh place to ninth place in the rankings.
Francoise Bettencourt Meyers, a Frenchwoman, held the title of richest woman in the world as of May 1, 2024. She is the fifteenth richest person in the world, with an estimated net worth of $95.4 billion.
Francoise’s inheritance from her late mother, a share in the cosmetics giant L’Oreal, is reportedly the source of her wealth, according to Forbes. Eugène Schueller, the man who founded L’Oreal, was her grandfather.
