Joe Mettle Praises KODA As A “Great Brother”

Singer Joe Mettle has stated that he had “plenty of fondest memories” with KODA.

He struggled to pick a favorite, but in the end he said, “KODA produced the very first song I ever released officially.”

Mettle stated that “KODA had this small corner studio” in Takoradi at the time.

He remembered that “every few weeks,” KODA would go from Takoradi to Accra, “when we used to play for [the late] Minister Danny Nettey,” adding that the recently deceased record producer and musician would take care of the team’s instruments.

Recalling “the last event we had with him in Takoradi,” when “we spent a lot of time together, gisting, talking about plans and all of those things,” he underlined, “As for memories, there are plenty.”

He said, “I rent [music] equipment and stuff on the side. In fact, the last time I spoke with him, he said he was about to produce a new album and he’d want some equipment.”

According to Joe Mettle, he gave KODA the assurance that he would provide him with the necessary equipment whenever he was ready, and then he took out for the United States of America (USA).

He expressed disbelief that “this was when he was fine and everything” and said, “The next thing I heard, he was gone.”

On Thursday, June 13, 2024, Joe Mettle had a conversation with Mr. Lion on Class Drive on Class 91.3 FM.

He praised the multiplely honored Contemporary Gospel musician and sound engineer KODA, saying, “He was a great guy.” Outstanding sibling on all measures.

He highlighted how KODA was willing to lend a hand and showed humility by asking for his guidance even though “I was the younger one.”

Joe Mettle concluded by saying, “God knows best.”
