Mahama Hasn’t Stated Whether He Supports Free SHS; Kwasi Aboagye And Omane Acheampong Disagree

Gospel artist Nicholas Omane Acheampong has come under fire from media personality Kwasi Aboagye for claiming that if John Dramani Mahama were to win the presidency, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer will repeal the Free SHS policy.

During a studio debate, Omane Acheampong asserted that if Mahama wins the 2024 elections, he will cancel the Free Senior High School (SHS) scheme.

Omane Acheampong’s assertion was sharply refuted by Aboagye, who emphasized that the former president has not made any public declarations of this nature.

The broadcaster chastised the gospel musician during a heated debate, telling him to stay away from party politics and falsely accusing Mahama.

“What have I fabricated?” Acheampong Omane enquired. “Do you think that Muhammad started Free SHS, as he claimed? Why are certain members of the media unwilling to be realistic? Do you not know about the NDC’s 419 free education program? Nobody is able to teach me.”

Evidently disturbed by the accusations, Kwasi Aboagye shot back in Twi, saying, “It’s unbelievable that you would spread lies on the radio as a gospel performer. You claim that Mahama is against Free SHS, but he hasn’t said anything to that effect. You said that I intimidated you when I threatened to take you off the broadcast.

“You are disseminating false information; that person hasn’t said that, and I will not put up with it. Not even proof that you can offer. I received three audio snippets from you talking about orphans.

Notable is the fact that Omane Acheampong has consistently attacked Mahama during his campaigns, characterizing the former president as inept.

The musician has also pleaded with Ghanaians to vote against Mahama because he will do away with Free SHS, which helps the underprivileged in the community.
