Bishop Daniel Obinim, the General Overseer of the International Godsway Church, came under heavy fire online when a video he posted went viral. In it, he was seen telling his followers to make seed contributions of at least GH¢20, calling smaller sums an affront to God.
Obinim begged anyone who had given GH¢5 or GH¢10 to return their money in the video so that it wouldn’t become a curse.
But in spite of all the blowback, Obinim says the criticism hasn’t affected him and doesn’t seem to be phased.
Obinim responded to his critics by stating that even Kennedy Agyapong, his adversary, had tried unsuccessfully to destroy him on several occasions.
He emphasized that the Assin Central MP, in spite of his greater influence, was unable to use his vast network and resources to overthrow him.
Kennedy Agyapong, the person who intended to destroy me, was unable to fulfill his ambition. How much less likely is it that you will succeed if even he, with all of his wealth and power, failed? Do you know how much of a hardship it was for me because of him? During a church service, Obinim clarified, “I’ve been summoned by the EOCO, BNI, GRA, National Security, CID, and various Courts.”
