Asantehene Ottumfuo Osei Tutu II’s daughter, Dr. Caryn Agyemang Prempeh, has expressed her preference for her children to marry into the royal line.
She claims that getting married into the royal family improves and increases the comfort level of one’s partner since it allows for mutual understanding after the partner is already acquainted with the culture.
Despite not marrying into the royal family, she said that her life experience will encourage her offspring to do the same.
In an interview with Joy FM, which Yes Ghana Online aired, Dr. Agyemang Prempeh stressed how important it is for members of royal families to be married in order to maintain their relationship via mutual understanding.
“At first, I was a little reluctant, but I’ve come to think that it makes things easier since people value you more when you marry someone who knows the Asanteman and the culture. They regard you more since they understand your perspective. It gets harder the farther you get away from it.
“It’s beneficial to you personally since the other person will better understand your perspective. I don’t belong to the royal league in my situation. It will be easier if my kids follow it, though, based on my experience,” she remarked.
