TGMAs 2024: King Promise, I Deserved To Be Named “Artist Of The Year”

Afrobeats artist King Promise has opened out about losing out to reggae/dancehall musician Stonebwoy for the coveted TGMA “Artiste of the Year” award.

The “Commando” hitmaker stated in an interview with YouTuber Kwadwo Sheldon that he thought he should have won the prize even though the competition might not have gone exactly as planned.

“I had hoped to prevail.” I believe that everyone who has achieved extraordinary success is entitled to believe thus.

“I don’t even need to tell you that I deserved it—you already know that I did—because else I wouldn’t fit into the category.

It’s a competition, though. It’s okay if it goes the other way or in the direction you want. Everyone knew it was meant to be us in the end, even my followers and myself,” he remarked.

King Promise, on the other hand, expressed his congratulations to Stonebwoy on his victory and stated that the main goal of the TGMAs was to honor Ghanaian music and the dedication of all participating artists.

For me, it was a wonderful opportunity to honor Ghanaian music and do what I do so well.

Furthermore, it need not be the end of the world when someone else triumphs. Additionally, I think this person respectably portrays Ghanaian music to some extent.

Naturally, I was going to congratulate him no matter what. He remarked, “I always congratulate everyone when they win.

On June 1, 2024, the TGMA took place at the Grand Arena, Accra International Conference Centre. To win Artiste of the Year, Stonebwoy defeated Black Sherif, Kuami Eugene, Nacee, King Promise, and Sarkodie.
