The Film Business Requires Funding And Assistance In Order To Expand – Fella Makafui

Actress Fella Makafui, who is from Ghana, has said that funding and support are essential to the growth of the nation’s film industry.

During her April 30 appearance on Hitz FM’s DayBreak Hitz broadcast, she emphasized the need of investor and fan support for filmmakers.

Fella Makafui made the observation that greater public interest in Ghanaian cinema could result in higher earnings, which would then go toward funding new films.

“In my opinion, support is the key to everything. Since we will receive our proceeds to make another film if I invite you to my film and, at the end of the day, we premiere it and a large number of people attend,” she explained.

The ‘Yolo’ actress urged Ghanaians to support the arts more, especially corporate support in the form of product placements and other initiatives.

“I think that’s the only thing we will urge Ghanaians to channel more energy into – support the craft.”

Despite all of the challenges, Makafui expressed optimism for the future of the sector.

She mentioned some recent successes, such the encouragement she received from artist Kuami Eugene for the series “Serwaa,” which she co-produced with Farmhouse.

“I’m observing developments in the sector. Serwaa, the series I co-produced with Farmhouse last year, was a huge hit. I am extremely appreciative, even for this movie; the support has been overwhelming,” she remarked.
