The deportation of Ghana player Kingsley Sarfo was put on hold after fresh evidence appeared in his rape trial.
The former midfielder of Malmo was charged with rape against an underage girl, who saw him sentenced to Sweden prison.
The new evidence from the case of Sarfo suggests that the girl in question was 15 years of age and not 14 as mentioned in the case.
“It is a very positive decision. By resuming the preliminary investigation, he will have another chance and trial of this,” says his agent Thomas Bodström
This forced further inquiries into the players case and the player could be exonerated of all charges if it is discovered that the woman was indeed 15.
This could allow him to stay and carry on his career in Sweden.
Sarfo is the second Ghanaian to suffer a similar fate following Kwame Bonsu, who is now pursuing his trade with Africa Champions Esperance de Tunis in Tunisia.
