Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe Expressed Disappointment With Sam Okudzeto’s Remarks Regarding Cecilia Dapaah’s Case

Prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has expressed shock at remarks made by renowned attorney Sam Okudzeto about the accusations of corruption against former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources Cecilia Dapaah.

He called Okudzeto’s words, which seemed to be in favor of the former minister, unworthy of a man of his caliber and said that they ought to be denounced.

Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe stressed that in order to maintain systemic transparency, it is critical to hold public servants accountable, especially in cases of corruption.

“When my older brother Sam Okudzeto made a public comment on the Cecilia Dapaah case, I was taken aback. I was taken aback. I’m aware that I’m not irritated. However, I was somewhat aback because someone ought to be able to account for a glass if they even own one.

Furthermore, structures are popping up everywhere. Would you like to inform me that they arrived just now? They were placed there by someone. From whence did they obtain their funds? And these are the things that the average person finds annoying,” he stated in a conversation with Kafui Dey.

It’s important to remember that Sam Okudzeto has said that it’s permissible to retain money at home because no law forbids it.

He received harsh criticism for his support of Cecilia Dapaah, who is the subject of a corruption inquiry.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) is looking into Cecilia Dapaah for corruption and associated charges after two of her housekeepers were arrested for allegedly taking over $1 million, €300,000, and other valuables from her Abelemkpe property.

On September 5, 2023, the OSP froze Cecilia Dapaah’s accounts a second time, in response to an order from an Accra High Court to unfreeze her accounts and restore her money that had been taken after the first freeze order.

On August 9, 2023, Yes Ghana Online reported that the OSP had frozen the former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources’ assets and bank accounts, which contained large sums of money in both dollars and cedis.

The OSP unfrozen five of Cecilia Dapaah’s bank accounts on October 16, 2023.

The office explained that although the five accounts have been unfrozen, her other bank accounts and financial assets are still frozen.
