The head of the Government Assurances Committee, Farouk Aliu Mahama, has urged the government to act more to resolve the current problems with the nation’s electrical supply.
Mahama underlined that although the country’s 88.75% electricity coverage is impressive, more work must be done to provide a steady and dependable supply of electricity across the board.
The Member of Parliament for Yendi also commended the Minister of Energy for his appearance before the committee on Friday, May 3, when they addressed the state of the electrical grid, in a Facebook post on Monday, May 6.
He commended the administration for its efforts to mitigate the most recent power outage and praised the strategies used to decrease the challenges.
Farouk Mahama underlined the need of continual participation and proactive measures to ensure that the country’s electricity supply remains stable and meets the demands of all citizens.
“In accordance with Standing Order 225, the Hon. Minister for Energy, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, appeared before the Committee on Assurance to update the Ghanaian people on the energy situation in the country and to report on the progress of commitments made to Parliament.”
“In my capacity as the Committee Chair, I would like to compliment the Minister and the administration on their outstanding work in the energy sector. I mentioned that we should be proud of ourselves for reaching 88.75% electricity coverage, which is a noteworthy accomplishment. But I also stressed that we need to work together more to address the recent technical issues that have affected the supply of energy in various areas of the nation,” he said.
