Sammi Awuku Orders State-Of-The-Art Restroom For Aburi Girls SHS

Akuapem North Parliamentary Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammi Awuku, Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), and the NLA’s Good Causes Foundation have officially opened an ultra-modern restroom for Aburi Girls Senior High School.

In order to improve sanitation and hygiene in the school, Madam Amma Frimpomaa, National Coordinator of the Good Causes Foundation of the NLA and an alumna of Aburi Girls, started the project. It consists of two borehole water facilities, a changing room, and a 12-seater toilet for teachers.

During the project’s handover ceremony to the school, Hon. Sammi Awuku urged both the authorities and pupils to uphold environmental best practices in order to prevent illness outbreaks.

Two of the Good Cause Foundation’s pillars—supporting an educational facility and handling health-related issues—apply to this facility that we have constructed today.”

Speaking about the Foundation’s operations, Hon. Awuku stated that it is the NLA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), adding that the project’s delivery is consistent with the Authority’s goal of supporting Ghanaians, since the Foundation’s continued existence and success are due to the public’s support and use of its goods and services.

He declared that the Authority has already built and opened more than sixteen restrooms, supplied certain areas with boreholes, and assisted the weaker members of society, including widows and those with physical disabilities, across the nation.

The school authority wouldn’t have a maintenance issue, according to Hon. Awuku, because “where your school is situated comes face to face with the weather, so if you are not good at maintaining your facility, these pillars would not have been there.”

In addition to their academic success, he praised the administration of the school, the former student association, the teaching and non-teaching staff for upholding strong educational standards.

He was hopeful that the building will serve as evidence of the nation’s support for education.

Along with encouraging the youngsters to be disciplined and take their studies seriously, he also urged on the older pupils to keep working harder even if they are already giving the school their all.

He wished the students in their last year of study well on their examinations.

The NLA Good Causes Foundation was commended for this generosity by Mr. Frank Boadu, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Akuapem North, and he urged other institutions to follow like.

In order to serve future generations, he asked the school to retain the building.

On behalf of Aburi Girls SHS, the school prefect also thanked Hon. Sammi Awuku and the NLA from the bottom of their hearts and pledged to maintain the facilities.
