Technical Problems Cause The Oxygen Plant At Tamale Teaching Hospital To Momentarily Shut Down

Due to technical difficulties, the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH), a vital referral center that serves five northern regions of Ghana, is currently suffering an oxygen supply outage.

Due to engine failure, the hospital’s oxygen plant broke down on Monday, July 1, 2024, severely limiting the amount of oxygen available.

A team of technical professionals is presently trying to remedy the issue, but no deadline for repair has been determined, according to Citi News, which was briefed by Mr. Zuberu Alidu, the public relations officer.

He asked for patience while assuring the people that the problem is being handled.

“Production and supply of oxygen have been suspended due to damage to a vital component of the facility. Since local sources in the Northern region are unable to meet our oxygen needs, we are now working with suppliers, mostly in Kumasi,” he said.

To make sure we can handle incoming referrals, we now have enough resources and are in constant contact with referring hospitals, particularly the Ghana Health Service.”
