Fanyogo and FanIce’s prices have risen as of 1 October 2019.
The price that was officially marketed at GHS1.00 for Fanyogo and Fanchoco will now be purchased at GHS1.20p, while the cost for Fan Ice 250ML will be GHS5.00.
The rise comes at a moment when a 5.94 percent rise in electricity tariffs was announced by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) and 2.22 percent for water.
The PURC clarified that the following variables were taken into account in the calculation of the automatic adjustment formula for the rise: exchange rate of Ghana Cedi-US, inflation, price of crude and natural gas, fuel mix (crude, petroleum and natural gas), generation mix (hydro and thermal), cost of purchasing power and cost of electricity (a significant cost element in water manufacturing).
Last month, transport tariffs also rose by 10% following the increase in fuel prices.
