Abdul Rahim Bashiru: “I Don’t Know Why Hearts Of Oak Lost To Accra Lions.”

Abdul Rahim Bashiru, the assistant coach of Hearts of Oak, said he is unable to explain the Phobians’ Wednesday loss to the Accra Lions.

After being promoted to the Ghana Premier League, Lions defeated Hearts of Oak for the first time thanks to a goal from Ibrahim Issah in the second half.

The Phobians had a great start and created many of opportunities in the first half, but they were unable to convert any of them, which allowed Accra Lions to win thanks to a goal from Issa in the 56th minute.

That’s how football works. We had such a great start. Even the first half of the game was supposed to be over. Rahim Bashiru bemoaned, “We had some good opportunities, but we couldn’t take them,” after the game.

“I can’t tell you why, because we kept playing in the second half before they scored. I’m not sure. Whether or not we became distracted. We persisted, but they had excellent defense. We must applaud them on their excellent goalie,” he said.

Hearts of Oak now sit just four points above the relegation zone in 12th position in the league rankings after the loss, with 35 points. Accra Lions, on the other hand, have moved up to third position.

On Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Golden City Park, they will play Berekum Chelsea.
