Agyemang Badu: “It Will Be Challenging For African Players Playing Abroad For The AFCON In December”

According to former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, most foreign players will find it challenging to compete in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The next tournament, according to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), will take place in December 2025–January 2026.

Since players participate during the Christmas season, Badu claims that December is the busiest month for them, particularly in Europe.

“This is our job, even though the circumstance is really challenging. We want to work on jobs like these,” he said to Joy Sports.

You simply need to show up and represent your nation whenever you receive a call-up, regardless of the time of year or if the European Club will bother us. You must make both your country and yourself proud.”

The former Ghana international pleaded with CAF to provide a stable date for AFCON competitions so that they do not clash with other footballing events.

Although it’s regrettable, we must accept it and go on. It will produce a great deal of commotion for the players, so I hope it doesn’t happen again,” he continued.
