Before The Upcoming Season, Asante Kotoko Discusses With Midfielder Mohammed Sherrif About Extending His Contract

Asante Kotoko of the Ghana Premier League has started talks to prolong the contract of Mohammed Sherrif, their midfield player. Sherrif’s current contract expires in a few months.

The 22-year-old defensive midfielder Sherrif has stated how excited he is to carry on with the Porcupines. He transferred from lower-tier team Steadfast Academy to Asante Kotoko in 2021, and since then, he has grown to be an important player on the squad.

Unfortunately, a car accident in Tamale ended the box-to-box midfielder’s season prematurely, as he missed the majority of the second half of the 2023–24 Ghana Premier League season. Sherrif played 16 games for Kotoko in spite of this setback, scoring twice and dishing out one assist before to his tragic tragedy.

Sherrif has played in 61 league games for Kotoko overall, scoring two goals and dishing out four assists. As they prepare for the 2024–2025 season, the club is keen to keep him on staff due to his noteworthy accomplishments.

The Porcupine Warriors had a difficult season, finishing in sixth place without winning any hardware. Now, the team is focusing on rebuilding their roster. They have let go of eighteen players so far, and two more are anticipated to leave. It’s expected that certain players—like Sherrif—will be sent away while others will be given the opportunity to sign new contracts.
