Countryman Songo Reacts To Kudus

Prominent sportscaster Patrick Osei Agyemang, popularly known as Countryman Songo, has urged Ghanaian football players to respect Ghanaians and acknowledge the important role the Black Stars played in their professional achievement.

According to Songo, a player’s career isn’t fully over until they succeed with his country’s football team, and Ghanaian players ought to give thanks to their country for giving them the chance to accomplish their dreams.

Countryman Songo‘ highlighted on his show the benefits that the Black Stars have given to several players and urged the younger generation to be grateful and humble toward Ghana.

He gave instances of former Ghanaian players who saw improvements in their careers upon donning the national uniform.

“It’s an amazing honor to be able to play for Ghana; you should approach the opportunity with humility and excitement. You must treat it with care as it is an honor granted to you by the nation. You can receive distinctions and global recognition from the Black Stars that are frequently out of reach at the club level.

Even if your career is going well abroad, you could not be recognized until you represent Ghana. The entire world is aware of you. You will be acknowledged whether or not you give an excellent performance. Because Otto Addo didn’t stand out for the national team, not many people are aware that he played for Ghana. But he became well-known thanks to the Black Stars.

“Despite having a successful career in Germany, Anthony Baffoe was little known until he played for Ghana. His penalty miss against Ivory Coast was the catalyst for his rise to prominence. He clarified on Adom TV that he didn’t become well-known until he was appointed captain of the Black Stars.

Songo’s comments come in the wake of the Mohammed Kudus and some Ghanaians’ dispute about Kudus’s performance during Ghana’s July 10, 2024, encounter against the Central African Republic.

On social media, Kudus voiced his displeasure with the criticism from supporters and responded sharply.
