Despite Our 5-1 Victory Over Ivory Coast, Laryea Kingston Expressed Her Dissatisfaction With The Manner We Performed.

At the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, Laryea Kingston, the head coach of Ghana’s U17 squad, expressed his dissatisfaction with his team’s style of play despite his team’s convincing 5-1 victory over Ivory Coast in the opening match of the 2024 WAFU Zone B Under-17 competition.

Along with a brace from Joseph Narbi, goals from Godfred Sarpong, Harve Gbafa, and Mark Mensah solidified the Black Starlets’ triumph.

The former Black Stars player stated after the game that he wanted the Black Starlets to take the initiative and call the plays.

“We’ve dominated play throughout the tournament preparation,” Kingston declared. In our most recent competition, we were defeated by Russia 3-0 despite controlling the first fifteen minutes of the match. We also dominated play in our friendly match against Niger in our match against Serbia.

Some of my guys are playing on home soil for the first time, so I noticed they were a little nervous. We need to balance play and give it our all. We occasionally try to play 1, 2, or 3 passes, but as a technical person, I’m not happy with how we performed,” he said.

“We didn’t play well today; we just got the job done, and you’ll see our style in the next game,” Kingston declared.

The next group matchup for Ghana is set for Tuesday, May 21, 2024, against Benin.
