George Boateng, A Former Black Stars Coach, Was Excited About The New Challenge In Coventry

After returning to Coventry City as one of the first-team coaches, George Boateng, a former assistant coach for Ghana, has expressed his excitement. The former Dutch international was named to the Sky Blues technical team ahead of the upcoming season, joining Rhys Carr and manager Mark Robins. Boateng played his first game of English football at Coventry in 1998.

“I’m excited to say that I’m back at Coventry City FC, my first love in English football! It is a privilege to return and collaborate with Mark Robins and the whole team from 1998 to 2024. After training on Wednesday, he commented on X, “I want to express my gratitude to Coventry City FC for this incredible opportunity.”

Following Ghana’s early elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, the Black Stars technical team under Chris Hughton was disbanded, and he returned to management.

“We are thrilled to have George and Rhys join Coventry City,” Coventry City manager Mark Robins stated.

They both made an impression on us during the drawn-out hiring process for this significant position, and they each provide invaluable abilities to the football division.

“We are eager to start working with them because their experience and knowledge will greatly aid our work to maximize the performance and preparation of our team, both in advance of and on matchdays.”

Boateng played for Aston Villa, Middlesborough, and Coventry City in England for the majority of his playing career.
