Ghana Defeated CAR, And Jordan Ayew Salvaged The “Mediocre” Black Stars, According To Countryman Songo

Jordan Ayew, according to controversial sportscaster Patrick Osei Agyemang, also referred to as Countryman Songo, kept the Black Stars from having a humiliating game against the Central African Republic (CAR).

Songo said that Ayew came through in the clutch to save the night in the 4-3 victory and that he could not believe Ghana gave up three goals to a team like CAR.

He accused Black Stars coach Otto Addo of almost losing the team because he insisted on his players play “beautiful football” when Ghana needed a goal badly.

“You say you’re an excellent instructor. When the going gets tough, does one have to play flawless football to keep looking for the goal? It would have been a different situation if players like Jordan Ayew hadn’t shown such remarkable excellence. He added on Adom TV, “These guys (CAR) were able to score three goals.

He went on to criticize goalie Lawrence Ati-Zigi for what he perceived to be a subpar performance.

“Ati-Zigi, your goalie, look at him. People assume we are hateful if we discuss these issues, but if you depend on this goalie, why won’t you withdraw from the tournament after three games? You act as though there are no goalkeepers in the nation,” he continued.

On Monday, June 10, 2024, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, the Black Stars defeated CAR despite needing to mount a second-half comeback to secure their third narrow victory in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.

Jordan Ayew’s hat-trick and a goal from Fatawu Issahaku earned Ghana the win over the Cameroon, whose top striker Mafouta also scored a hat-trick.

The team is now level with Comoros on 9 points at the top of the standings after recording the first back-to-back victories and a 10% home record.

Mali, in fourth position with five points, is behind Madagascar, which is in third place with seven points. With four points, the Central African Republic is ranked fifth, while Chad is at the bottom with no points.
