It’s Possible For You To Emulate Pep Guardiola. Otto Addo Told Xabi Alonso

CEO of Division One team New Edubiase United, Alex Ackumey, has urged Black Stars coach Otto Addo to seize the opportunity provided by the Ghana Football Association to establish a prosperous coaching career.

Ackumey made comparisons between Otto Addo and Spanish coaches Pep Guardiola and Xabi Alonso during a conversation on Romeo Oduro’s YouTube channel. Both coaches took advantage of early opportunities to establish illustrious coaching careers.

He suggested that Otto Addo may become a well-known tactical specialist throughout the world and pleaded for Ghanaians to assist him in this capacity.

Compared to those of us who are farther away, Kurt and the Executive Council members get along better with him. He needs our support, and we need to provide it to him. If the team does well, we’ll all be happy, therefore let’s stay optimistic. Otto Addo has the ability to follow in the footsteps of Pep Guardiola and Xabi Alonso, who were given opportunities at an early age and succeeded. He has a responsibility to uphold the standards set by those who selected him, as does his team,” Ackumey said.

Ackumey also thinks Otto Addo needs to improve his recruiting procedure and only invite players who deserve it in order to strengthen his coaching resume.

He called Addo’s decision to leave Joseph Paintsil out of Ghana’s World Cup team for 2022 a grave error and cautioned against making the same mistakes twice.

“I believe he made a mistake by excluding John Paintsil, which was a significant omission. He was unable to offer a convincing defense for his exclusion from the World Cup roster. Paintsil was then in peak form and operating at a high level. But that’s the past now, and we ought to encourage him going forward,” Ackumey said.

In March 2024, Otto Addo was once again appointed to a 34-month term. His first matches in draws (2-2) and losses (2-1) against Nigeria and Uganda, respectively.
