John Mensah Talks About Life After Football In “I’m Keeping Myself In Church”

After leaving the Ghana Black Stars, John Mensah, a dependable defender, discovered a new passion.

Mensah has devoted his time and efforts to religious service and community outreach since hanging up his boots seven years ago.

The former captain, whose impact on Ghanaian football history is irreversible, now uses his leadership abilities to promote the gospel.

His performance on Saturday, June 28, 2024, at the Ghana Football Awards gala showcased his shift from the field to the pulpit.

“I simply try to stay in the church as much as possible. That’s how I’m keeping myself cool now that I’m off the field,” Mensah told the crowd.

“Resurrection Power New Generation Church is the name of my church. There, I’m just in worship. However, he continued, “I maintain my faith in God Almighty to properly worship Him, counsel my people, and engage in evangelism to help others fully understand God.”

Mensah, who was dubbed the “Rock of Gibraltar” during his playing career, amassed 86 caps and scored three goals during his remarkable tenure with the national team. He made a major contribution to Ghana’s advancement to the 2010 FIFA World Cup quarterfinals and runner-up position in the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations.
