Messi Celebrates Birthday With His Teammate

While out on international duty at the Copa America, Lionel Messi celebrated his birthday with his teammates

To celebrate turning 37, Messi shared a photo of himself holding a birthday cake on Instagram. Group of teammates, including Cristian Romero, Rodrigo de Paul, Angel Di Maria, and Nicolas Otamendi, were invited to join him in celebrating.

Messi is aiming for Copa America victory this summer. Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham has already presented him a massive bottle of Argentinean wine. The defending world and South American champions defeated Canada 2-0 in the group round to start their campaign.

“Thank you so much for all the greetings and congratulations!!” Messi wrote in his caption. Another year that the National Team is with me on my birthday… We continue to prepare for our next game while enjoying a little bit more celebration. Warm regards!”

Messi is not the oldest player on Argentina’s Copa America team, despite his 37 years of age. The backup goalkeeper Franco Armani, who turned 37 in October, is deserving of the honor. He was born in 1986.

On June 25, Argentina’s Copa America campaign gets underway against Chile in a group match that started with a 0-0 tie with Peru. Messi and company will be hoping for a more convincing victory because they needed to wait until the 88th minute to declare victory over Canada.
