Otto Addo Speaks Out About Taking On Kwesi Appiah

Citing their strong form under coach Kwesi Appiah, Ghana’s coach Otto Addo expects a difficult match against Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Drawn with Angola and Niger, Sudan, commanded by the former Ghana manager and captain, appears to be Ghana’s main priority.

Appiah is presently a member of the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association.

Addo is impressed by Sudan’s performance in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, since they won their group and defeated Senegal and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

He said on the Ghana FA website, “We have Sudan who are doing really well at the moment with Kwesi Appiah.” “He is a very good coach.”

Addo agreed that Sudan is a challenging country. “They are not a well-known squad, but they are very tough to beat,” stated the coach. “It’s going to be a big challenge.”

Addo is optimistic in spite of the difficulty. “I am excited to play against them,” stated the player. “We have a strong team and we surely can beat them.”

The qualifying round is scheduled to start in September and end in November of this year.

Then, on December 21, 2025, the 2025 Afcon finals will start, and on January 18, 2026, the championship will be decided.

For the first time in the history of the Nations Cup, the competition will begin in December and continue through the Christmas and New Year holidays.
