The Ghana Premier League’s rescheduled Week 28 matchup saw an intense contest played on Wednesday afternoon at the Accra Sports Stadium, with Accra Lions emerging victorious over Accra Hearts of Oak by a narrow margin of 1-0.

Originally planned for March 27th, the game was delayed to May 1st.

Accra Lions were in a more comfortable eighth place with forty points before the whistle blew, while Accra Hearts of Oak were in 12th place with 35 points.

Neither team was able to score before halftime during the opening midfield struggle of the game. After the break, strategic changes were made. Accra Hearts of Oak had to replace Glid Otanga with Gideon Asante Yeboah in the 49th minute owing to an injury sustained from an on-field accident.

Accra Lions took the lead in the 56th minute thanks to a goal by Ibrahim Issa as he gets a cross cut pass from Daniel Awuni . Accra Lions’ defense held strong, maintaining their lead till the final siren, despite Accra Hearts of Oak’s best efforts to equalize.

The next league games that Accra Hearts of Oak and Accra Lions have scheduled are against Berekum Chelsea and Aduana Stars, respectively.
